FAQ - frequently asked questions

Technical questions:

Q: How do I service my watch, what type of service is recommended?

A: When the battery needs replacement, just visit a regular watch shop/watchmaker,
they’ll be able to help you for a small fee. The battery lasts several years so no need for alarm.
The service we recommend is that you keep your watch clean and away from any harmful environments (ie. fire, extreme heat, extreme cold, high humidity etc.). If the watch needs to be cleaned internally, just take it to the local watchmaker and they’ll help you out.

Q: Are the watches waterproof?

A: Yes, they are! Our watches feature a 10ATM (100m) water resistance and a screw down crown and a screw in caseback, all
to ensure a very high level of water integrity. We would however like to make you aware that neither the leather band nor the cordura strap fair well in
water. They can loose shape and finish.

Q: How do I read the GMT-hand?

A: The small red hand (called the GMT-hand) reads independently from the main hands, it travels one rotation in  the
course of a 24h day. The inner ring displays time in the 24-hr scale and the small hand points to that scale. So let’s say you live in Stockholm but is
travelling to New York (an 6 hour time difference), and you want to keep track of your home time at a glance. You’ll then set the main hands to the
local time (let’s say it’s 12-noon ie. 12:00) and adjust the gmt-hand so that it points to 06:00 on the inner ring.

Q: What does it mean that the watches have a “screw down crown”?

A: The crown (used to set the time & date) is threaded onto the case. This helps not only with waterproofing the watch, but also makes the crown sit sturdier onto the watch case protecting it slightly more from dings. It’s imperative that you screw down the crown tightly (do not over-tighten as this may damage the threads) after you’ve set the watch. Failing to do so will compromise the water integrity of your watch and it will be susceptible to water ingress and damage.
