“Hurry up! We’ll miss the ferry back to the mainland!”
Her call did not manage to upset your concentration as you hovered with the viewfinder aimed at the birds nearby.
The camera shutter clicked confidently and you looked up. She was already way ahead of you, almost running.
“We still have 10 minutes!” you shouted back at her, your white dialled Skytoucher Automatic having told you the time at a glance. As you finally started jogging towards the docks, you gave your wristwatch another look, it’s polished steel case glistened in the afternoon sun, reflecting everything around you with pride. Still 5 minutes to go.
As you caught up to her at the dock, your wristwatch struck full hour, the white ferry signalled it’s foghorn you smiled at her, between your heavy breathing. “See, told you we’d make it!” She smiled back as you both boarded to head back to the mainland, another day in your life, your own little paradise.
